About Diana Gifford-Jones

Diana Gifford-Jones is the pseudonym of Diana MacKay, daughter of W. Gifford-Jones, MD.  She is a graduate of Wellesley College and Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.  Diana has a wide range of global health and health education work experience – with international financial institutions, universities, government agencies, NGOs, and large and small businesses.

Diana spent ten years with the World Bank in Washington D.C. supporting the Bank’s lending operations in education, health, nutrition, population, and social protection.  For another decade at The Conference Board of Canada, she managed the Roundtable on Socio-Economic Determinants of Health, the Centre for Chronic Disease Prevention and Management, the Canadian Centre for Environmental Health, and the Centre for Health System Design and Management. 

She has extensive experience with global higher education, including with the Aga Khan University, at the Canadian Bureau for International Education, as leader of the Quality Network for Universities, and in a ground-breaking role at Carleton University, where she was the Executive Director of the Global Academy.  She has the designation as a certified Chartered Director from The Directors College, a joint venture of McMaster University and The Conference Board of Canada.

Diana is married with four children and is an active member of her community.
